WHAT IS ASTROCYTE?

We are proud to introduce Astrocyte –a digital practice management solution that will be offered exclusively to Investec’s existing medical professional clients with a Private Bank Account.

Everything you need to run your practice effectively is available on this one platform - you no longer need multiple systems.

WHAT ARE SOME OF ITS TOP FEATURES?

  • Investec Private Bank Account integration to ensure seamless sharing of payment information.
  • Staff can choose which devices (desktop and mobile) they prefer to work on. It is also IOS and Android compatible, Apple-friendly and built according to Microsoft standards.
  • Easy calendar management, billing, and basic reconciliation, claims submission and reporting.
  • Specialists can make notes on the system remotely, and staff will be notified of the codes captured (note to bill feature)—no delay in the claims process.
  • Seamless integration with medical aids, pathology laboratories, and banking
  • Practice information and sensitive information are encrypted and protected. Data is stored offline, and a back-up is stored in the cloud.
  • Even when the practice is offline, staff will be able to view, update and create information. The specialist can also remotely access the system to make clinical notes.

IS THE SYSTEM COMPATIBLE WITH MOST DEVICES AND OPERATING SYSTEMS?

Yes. Practice staff can choose which devices (desktop and mobile) they prefer to work on. It is also IOS and Android compatible, Apple friendly and built according to Microsoft standards.

WILL I BE ABLE TO MANAGE MY CALENDAR WITH THIS SYSTEM?

Yes. You can create and manage your practice calendar, including clinical notes, client information and appointments.

...AND BILLING?

Staff can create and manage patient accounts and do reconciliations against payments received. You can also get a quick view of outstanding payments and funds liable according to the debtor’s days (current, 30 days, 60 days etc). Get an overview of patient consultations vs patients invoiced.

Specialists can make notes on the system remotely and practice staff will get a notification of the codes captured. Claims can be submitted to medical aids directly. There’s no delay in the claims process.

DOES IT INTEGRATE WITH PATHOLOGY LABORATORIES?

Astrocyte integrates directly with the pathology laboratories (Ampath, Lancet and Pathcare), so blood results can be viewed electronically via Astrocyte.

HOW SECURE IS MY PRACTICE INFORMATION?

Practice information and sensitive information are encrypted and protected. Information is stored offline and a back-up is stored in the cloud (done daily).

Only authorised devices and users can access practice information.

CAN MULTIPLE STAFF MEMBERS ACCESS THE SYSTEM?

Multiple user access is also possible. The specialist can decide the level of access for each user.

WHAT IF THE PRACTICE IS OFFLINE?

If your practice has no internet connection, staff will be able to view, update and create information. The specialist can also remotely access the system to make clinical notes.

WILL THIS SYSTEM PROVIDE AN AUDIT TRAIL?

For peace of mind, Astrocyte can be used for audit, performance and management purposes. It is compliant with the HSPCA guidelines for good practice.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC IT REQUIREMENTS?

There is no need to buy new devices, but there are minimum IT requirements. The Astrocyte consultant will explain it in more detail.

IS ASTROCYTE AVAILABLE TO ALL MEDICAL SPECIALISTS?

Astrocyte is not available to pathologists, radiologists, oncologists, dental specialists, maxillofacial surgeons, general practitioners and allied healthcare professionals.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO IMPORT CURRENT PATIENT DATA INTO ASTROCYTE?

Unfortunately, you will have to capture all patient data (existing and new) again on Astrocyte. It does present a great opportunity to update patient information to ensure accuracy with medical history, claims etc.

WHAT IS THE CONTRACT PERIOD?

There is a minimum of a one year contract with a three-month notice period.

WILL TRAINING BE PROVIDED?

Training will be provided to all practice staff and the specialist by a practice support consultant when the system is installed. At the first month-end, more in-depth training will be provided to facilitate these processes.

IS TECHNICAL SUPPORT AVAILABLE?

Yes, ongoing support will be available through a Helpdesk agent and the sales support engineer.
